Description
Dovobet is a topical corticosteroid that is used to treat psoriasis vulgaris by relieving itching, reducing swelling and constricting blood vessels.
Store Dovobet at room temperature away from heat and moisture. Be sure to keep the cap secure when not using the medication.
Consult with your physician before using Dovobet and tell them if you have any medical conditions, allergies, or if you are taking any other medications. Be sure to let them know if you have any of the following: severe forms of psoriasis (with severe redness, skin peeling or pus), liver or kidney disease, low or high levels of calcium in your blood and/or a skin infection. Discuss with your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breast-feeding.
Dovobet can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight and you may burn more easily in the sun. Be sure to use a minimum of SPF 15 sunscreen and wear protective clothing if you will be exposed to the sun. Dovobet is for external use only avoid contact with eyes, mouth, nose and lips. Should contact occur, wash immediately with water. Do not apply the medication to skin that is sunburned, windburned, irritated, dry, broken or chapped.
Patient Family Information : Use Dovobet as directed by your physician. Do not use larger amounts or for longer than recommended. Thoroughly wash hands before and after use. Apply a thin layer of the medication and rub it in completely. Do not apply the medicine to your face, underarms or groin. Do not cover the treated area with bandages, dressing or tight clothing, unless otherwise instructed by your physician. If you miss a dose of Dovobet, use it as soon as possible. If you do not remember until it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue on your regular schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once to make up for the missed dose.
Do not use Dovobet if you are allergic to betamethasone, calcipotriene, or any of the other ingredients in the medication. Do not use the medication for more than four weeks unless otherwise instructed by your physician and do not apply to more than one-third of your skin surface at one time.
Sever Side Effects : Serious side effects include: severe allergic reaction (hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat); Cushing syndrome – weight gain (especially in your face), thinning muscles in your arms or legs, easy bruising, thinning
Common side effects include: burning or mild itching; red or scaly rash; swollen hair follicles; or changes in the color of treated skin areas.
