Pacerone is used to treat life threatening irregular heartbeat. Other medications should be used before relying on Pacerone.

Inform your doctor prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding. Also inform your doctor if you are taking any other medications (prescription and non-prescription), herbal preparations, or dietary supplements. If you have any allergies tell your doctor. IF you have a history of heart, liver, thyroid, lung, or electrolyte problems; low blood pressure, eye problems, or sinoatrial heart block. Let your doctor know if you are planning on having surgery, if you have an implanted pacemaker or defibrillator. If you are currently taking medication for diabetes please tell your doctor.
This medication may worsen life threatening irregular heartbeat, or cause life threatening lung disease, or serious liver problems. Taking this medication can distort your thoughts and responses. Do not drive or participate in activities which require your awareness and attention. Do not consume grapefruit products while using Pacerone as it may interfere and react with Pacerone. Do not expose yourself to sunlight, or artificial UV rays while using Pacerone. Pacerone increases your sensitivity to UV rays and you may get a severe sunburn.
Take Pacerone/Amiodarone exactly as prescribed to you by your doctor, or use the instructions provided on the label. Read the Medication Guide provided with this medication; reread it each time you get Pacerone refilled. Take Pacerone orally. Pacerone’s best results occur when it is taken with food, but it should be taken consistently with regard to meals. If you take it with food, try to always take it with food; if you take it on an empty stomach, try to always take it on an empty stomach. Do not consume grapefruit products whole taking Pacerone. Try to take Pacerone at the same time each day.
Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine, including iodine. If you have sinoatrial heart block or have an abnormally slow heartbeat do not use Pacerone. If you are taking cisapride, dofetilide, an H1 antagonist, an HIV protease inhibitor, a phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor, or a streptogramin.
Severe: a new or a worsening irregular heartbeat pattern; quickened, slower, or hammering heartbeats; fainting sensation; breathless, cough, chest pain, difficulty breathing, coughing up blood; blurred vision, vision loss, headache or pain behind your eye
Common: feeling dizzy or tired; nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, constipation, loss of appetite; sleep problems (insomnia); weakness, lack of coordination; or warmth, tingling, or redness under your skin.
