Monitan is a prescription medicine that is used for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) and ventricular arrhythmias. This medication works by blocking nerve receptors and allowing the heart to beat more slowly, which over time improves the heart’s function.
Store Monitan capsules at room temperature, in an area that is protected from heat, light and moisture.
Before taking this medication, it is important to notify your doctor about any drug allergies you might have, medications (herbal, prescription and non-prescription) you are taking, or any past or present medical conditions you have.
Do not stop taking Monitan without your doctor’s advice, even if you feel better.
Patient Family Information : Monitan capsules should be taken exactly as they have been prescribed for you. When taking Monitan, follow the directions on your prescription label. If the directions on your prescription label are unclear, contact your healthcare provider for further instruction. Hypertension medications are generally to be taken once or twice daily, at the same time each day. Monitan may be taken with or without food.
Do not take Monitan if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in this medication. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, talk to your doctor before taking Monitan. If you are breastfeeding, do not use this medication, as it excretes in human milk.
Sever Side Effects : Severe Side Effects: shortness of breath or wheezing; swelling of the feet and lower legs; and chest pains.
Common Side Effects: dizziness, lightheadedness, excessive tiredness, headache, constipation, diarrhea, upset stomach and muscle aches.
