Description
Levsin is used to treat a variety of stomach and intestinal disorders. It can also be used to reduce symptoms associated with Parkinson’s disease and as a drying agent to control excessive salvation and sweating.
Store Levsin tablets at room temperature in an area that is protected from moisture and heat.
Before taking Levsin, notify your doctor if any of the following apply to you: you have heart disease; you have congestive heart failure; you have a heart rhythm disorder; you have high blood pressure; you have an overactive thyroid; or if you have a hiatal hernia with gastroesophageal reflux disease. If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, talk to your doctor before taking this medication, as this medication may be harmful to an unborn baby.
Levsin may impair your thinking, vision or reactions, so use with caution if you are required to be awake and see clearly. Drinking alcohol while taking this medication may increase symptoms of drowsiness or dizziness. Avoid becoming overheated when exercising or in hot weather, because this medication may increase risk of heat stroke.
Take Levsin exactly as prescribed for you by your healthcare professional. When taking Levsin, follow the directions listed on your prescription label. Do not take Levsin if you: are allergic to any of its ingredients; have kidney disease; have a bladder or intestinal obstruction; have severe ulcerative colitis; have toxic megacolon; have glaucoma; or if you have myasthenia gravis.
Severe side effects include: diarrhea; confusion, hallucinations; unusual thoughts or behavior; fast, pounding, or uneven heart rate; rash or flushing; or eye pain.
Common and less serious side effects include: dizziness, drowsiness, feeling nervous; blurred vision, headache; sleep problems (insomnia); nausea, vomiting, bloating, heartburn, or constipation; changes in taste; problems with urination; decreased sweatin
