Description

Gemzar disrupts the growth and spread of cancer cells within the body aiding in the treatment of many types of cancers including cancer of the pancreas, lungs, and breast.

Gemzar is injected by your doctor and is done in a clinic or hospital, therefore your doctor or other health care professional will store the medication for you.

Always tell your doctor if you are or may become pregnant as Gemzar can harm an unborn baby. Also inform your doctor if you are breast-feeding as Gemzar may be harmful to a nursing child. Gemzar can lower infection fighting blood cells and may make it easier for you to become ill. You should schedule regular blood tests and avoid being around those that are ill. If your skin has any contact with the medication, immediately wash the area with soap and warm water.

While taking Gemzar, you should not receive any “live” vaccines and you should not be around anyone who has received a live vaccine as there is a possibility the virus could be passed on to you.

Patient Family Information  : Gemzar is administered through an IV infusion and can take up to 30 minutes to finish. Generally, Gemzar is taken once a week for up to 7 weeks.

Do not use Gemzar if you are allergic to gemcitabine. Tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, liver disease, or if you are receiving radiation treatment.

Sever Side Effects : Serious side effect may include: allergic reaction; pale skin, easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness; urinating less than usual or not at all; nausea, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice; chest pain o

Less severe side effects are: mild nausea, vomiting, upset stomach; diarrhea or constipation; swelling in your hands, ankles, or feet; skin rash; numbness or tingly feeling; drowsiness or hair loss.
