Anemagen is used to treat anemia caused by surgery, pregnancy, metabolic disease, blood loss, or low dietary iron. It works by increasing the amount of iron in the body.
Store at room temperature. Keep away from moisture, light, heat, children and pets. Do not store in the bathroom.
Before taking Albafort, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant or breastfeeding; if you are taking prescription or over the counter medication, herbal preparation, or dietary supplements; if you have allergies to foods, medicines, or other substances; if you have another type of anemia such as megaloblastic anemia, hemolytic anemia, or pernicious anemia; if you have stomach or bowel problems such as Crohn disease, ulcer, inflammation; if you have metabolism problems, porphyria, or blood disease such as thalassemia; or if you are currently taking penicillamine, thyroid hormones such as levothyroxine, or doxycycline.
Ask your doctor how to take the following medication with Anemagen: hydantoins (eg, phenytoin), tetracyclines (eg, minocycline), levodopa, methyldopa, bisphosphonates (eg, etidronate), cephalosporins (eg, cefdinir), doxycycline, penicillamine, quinolones (eg, ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin), antacids, or thyroid hormones (eg, levothyroxine).
Patient Family Information : Read the directions on the prescription label. Do not take larger doses than prescribed by your doctor. Take this medication as directed on the label or by your pharmacist, doctor, or other healthcare provider. Take Anemagen with or without food or with a glass of water. It is recommended to take with food if Anemagen upsets your stomach. Anemagen must be swallowed whole, do not crush, chew, or break the tablet before swallowing. After taking Anemagen, do not lie down for a minimum of 30 minutes. If a dose is missed, take it right away. If you have missed a dose near your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and return to your regular dosing schedule.
Do not take Anemagen if you are allergic to any ingredient in the product or if you have too much iron in your body (also known as hemochromatosis or hemosiderosis).
Sever Side Effects : Severe: Blood or streaks of blood in the stool; black tarry stools; stomach pain; severe or persistent vomiting; severe allergic reactions including hives, difficulty breathing, rash, itching, tightness in the chest, or swelling in the tongue, mouth, lips, or face.
Common: Darkened or green stools; nausea; vomiting; constipation; diarrhea, or stomach upset.
